How should I clean my blinds?
We recommend annual ultrasonic cleaning for most blinds. Dusting blinds in your home typically creates static which just attracts more dust. Wiping with products that leave a film on your blinds will attract and hold the dust.
How often should I clean my blinds?
Blinds need the same care and attention as the glass behind them. Venetian blinds and blinds will need more frequent cleaning just because dust and grime attach themselves more readily to horizontal surfaces than vertical ones. We recommend annual blind cleaning in order to maximize the life of your window coverings.
Are some window coverings better than others for temperature control?
Cellular Shades and Sideview blinds are excellent for adding “R value” to your home. The air trapped between the layers of fabric in the “cell” or “honeycomb” provides the insulating effect. Sheerweave roller shades are designed to keep your space cooler during the summer heat. The flat surface of a roller shade is good for reflecting sunlight away from the window. And sheerweave fabrics are specifically designed to capture and hold heat. So, the heat created by the sun’s rays will stay in the fabric and not project into the room. While they are not a replacement for air conditioning, they certainly will reduce air conditioning costs and give you a noticeably cooler room.
Do you have the blinds that I can see through to the outside but no one can see in?
The popular sheerweave fabrics have many tricked into thinking that on one can see in. During the day, less open fabrics do provide privacy. But, at night, when the lights are on you will see in just as well as you see out during the day! To get good privacy, consider a 1% fabric – 3% will allow those outside to see shadows at night.
How do I decide what type of window coverings are best for my home?
There are three main considerations when making your choices – style, practicality and budget:
So, what is the style of your home? A modern look can easily be achieved with roller shades, panel tracking, flat roman shades. Add some side panel drapes with grommets and you have a sleek, clean look.
Cellular shades, sideview blinds, shutters, and wood blinds all fit well into a more classic or traditional home. Add swags and jabots for a more formal look or simple mock roman valances for a slightly more contemporary home.
Practicality – do you need the room to be completely dark in order to get the kids to go to sleep in the long days of summer? Room darkening cellular shades are a great choice – they fit more tightly into the window frame than another kind of blind so, they minimize the amount of light coming into the room.
Budget – generally speaking, metal venetians, verticals and faux woods are the least expensive window coverings. Roller shades, cell shades, real wood blinds, panel tracking, will be a bit more – depending on the exact fabric choice. At the higher end of the scale you will find silhouettes, luminettes, shutters and tri-shades

How long does it take to clean and repair blinds?
We aim to complete cleaning and repairs within a week. Sometimes we may have to order parts which will take longer. For cleaning we recommend that you drop your blinds off on a Monday or a Tuesday so that we can have them ready for you by Thursday or Friday.
Can I have my blinds picked up and delivered? Is there an extra charge for this?
Service calls are 55.00 – this includes pick up, ½ hour of time to take down your binds, delivery and re-hanging your blinds.
If you are having your house painted or new windows installed, we will un–install your window coverings, clean (repair if required) and store them for you. Then we will re–install them for you when you are ready for them. Prices for this will vary depending on the type and number of blinds, repairs needed, etc.”
What is the warranty on blinds?
Warranties vary by the type of blind, manufacturer, application of blind – ie residential vs. commercial. Generally speaking materials are warranted against manufacturing defects – cords are “wearable parts” and therefore will not usually be covered by a warranty.
How to maintain blinds between professional cleaning?
Depending on the type of blind, a gentle vacuuming or could do the job, horizontal blinds are best cleaned with a lambswool duster which will minimize static and can be easily cleaned for reuse.

What is the difference between an inside and outside mount?
An inside mount puts the blind inside the window frame – you will see the window trim around the blind. An outside mount will cover the window trim.
Will you ship blinds to out of town?
Yes, we will – cost will depend on destination, size of package, etc
Do you do free estimates?
Yes, we do. The quickest way to get an estimate is for you to measure the glass in your windows, call us with the width and height of each window. We can then give you a general idea of what the cost might be for a particular type of window covering. If the price fits your budget, then we will arrange a convenient time to meet you, look at window covering options and measure your windows exactly to get you a firm price.
